Donal’s Departure
The Monaghan Town Team extends their gratitude to Donal McElwain, MD Coordinator of Monaghan Municipal District, and wishes him success in his new role. Donal is well known, for his involvement in the Monaghan Town Voucher Scheme that began in 2016. This initiative launched in October of that year with the goal of involving 100 shops and achieving €150,000 in sales. The scheme surpassed expectations, selling €350,000 worth of vouchers in 12 weeks with over 150 businesses taking part. To date, the voucher scheme has generated and circulated over €10 million within the local economy, with Donal being a significant supporter of this vision. As MD Coordinator, Donal has contributed to various projects including the Monaghan Town Awards, the Christmas Lights, Rossmore Giants, the Monaghan Food Tourism Network, the St. Patrick's Day Festival, and so much more. The team appreciates Donal's support, knowledge, belief, dedication, and kindness, and wishes him well in his new position at Monaghan County Council.
€10 million in voucher sales
Over €10 Million Vouchers Sold Since 2016!
Monaghan Town Team is proud to announce the resounding success of its local voucher program, which has been a cornerstone of the town’s community and economic development strategy since its launch in 2016.
Over the past eight years, the program has surpassed expectations, with more than €10 million vouchers sold, generating significant benefits for the local economy and fostering a stronger, more connected community.
€8.5 million in voucher sales
We are delighted to report that one of the highlights of the Town Team’s success is the €8.5 million generated in Monaghan Town voucher sales and that is thanks to the wonderful support received from local businesses in the uptake of the project. For every €1 that is spent a further €4 is generated in the local economy which is such a great news story for the locality and really shows the benefit of shopping local.
