Since its introduction in 2016, the town paper voucher scheme has been a phenomenal success, and for every €1 spent using a voucher, a further €4 was generated for the local economy.
The popularity has brought challenges that made the program increasingly unsustainable. Businesses faced cumbersome reconciliation processes, and significant resources were required to manage sales and redemptions. Additionally, holding large stocks of paper vouchers created a substantial liability.
To address these issues, a new gift card system has been introduced in November 2025. This modern solution offers instant, hassle-free reconciliation for businesses, reduces administrative overhead, and eliminates the risks associated with physical voucher storage. The gift card system is not only more secure but also ensures the long-term sustainability of the program.
You can still spend your vouchers in any of the accepting businesses (check out the list below) but the paper vouchers are no longer for sale.
